Reba is a 21#, 2 1/2 year old spayed female sable-and-white Shetland Sheepdog.  She is up to date on all pertinent vaccines and is heartworm negative.  She was debarked by her breeder (barbaric!) which causes a small amount of heavy breathing at times due to the anatomy change in her throat.

Reba is a sweet-natured little girl but she may take a couple of days to warm up to her new humans.  She likes to know the rules and seems to worry about getting into trouble.  Reba responds well to being handled and groomed.  She does well with men, women and children and even chickens are in no danger.

An intelligent, active and alert Sheltie companion, Reba is very food motivated and using treats may be the easiest way to begin her obedience training.  She adores being outside in the sunshine.  It seems like her previous life was a great deal of confinement in a crate.  And she would prefer to rough-house with her doggie pals and hang with her humans.  Reba needs a forever home with at least one other companionable pooch, a stay-at-home active human and a yard where she can run and play.

That does not sound like too much for a Sheltie to ask, does it?

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
