Question.....What is 11# and as cute as a bug?  Jeremiah!  When we get a request to take a dog from a Colorado municipal shelter and we have a foster home available, it is a done deal.

A "combo dog" is a challenge to put a label on.  Jeremiah might have a dab of Sheltie and a dab of Pomeranian and a dab of Italian greyhound and a dab of "heaven only knows what."  But what we do know about him is how much fun he is.  He is a perky little fellow with a lot of curiosity.  He lives with two fairly large adult dogs and they are remarkably tolerant of his puppy behavior and he is totally unafraid of them.

Jeremiah is a 7-month-old neutered male, up-to-date on vaccinations and already microchipped.  It does not seem that he has had much training but Bob and Pat, his foster parents have begun a basic puppy class and he is an energetic and enthusiastic learner.  He loves to snuggle on the sofa or in the car with Pat especially.  (She is in charge of cuddling for the lucky dogs she lives with.  We should all be so lucky!)  He has housebroken himself by watching Sweetie, a tri-colored rough Collie and Bounce, a black and white border collie mix.  He loves yogurt and balls and squeaky toys.  And he carries the toys all around with him with a big smile on his precious face.

The ideal family for Jeremiah will be an active one that has a sense of fun and wants a pooch to share the joy.  No tiny kids please...he is small-boned and might be squished by toddlers.  Puppies need lots of stimulation and activity.  He would not do well alone in a crate all the time.

Applications first, which you will find on our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org.  No inquiries please without an application.  There don't seem to be enough hours in the day.  If an app is a fabulous potential one, we will forward it to the foster family and we will follow through with our screening process.  We can't wait to hear from you!

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
