No Collie in the history of the breed has ever been lovelier than our Gemma.  But acquiring a dog just because she is beautiful is not the best reason for loving a Collie.  Collies are gentle and fun and intuitive.  They go where you go and do whatever you want to do because they become so bonded that it is unthinkable for them to do otherwise.

Gemma is planning her 3rd birthday celebration on 6/7.  In preparation for that special day, she has been freshly groomed and is making personal appearances all over Pueblo West.  Although she enjoys being a couch potato on occasion, getting out and about is her idea of a great life.  But no trip is a quick one.  Gemma wants to sniff a flower here and meet a human there and she does it all with a happy smile and a waggy tail.

In spite of the fact that Collies have lots of hair (and their grooming needs must be taken into consideration as a budget item), they are not outdoor dogs.  (I usually jump on my traveling soapbox here.  No dogs should be primarily outdoor creatures.  Why have one?)  If your Collie or Sheltie is brushed frequently, they will always look their best and you will have much less fur flying through the house on the air-conditioned currents.  My Collies are all crashed on the cool floor in my study to help me on the computer.  They just want to be near me, in case they need to herd me in a new direction.  LOL

Gemma is a spayed female, UTD on all vaccines and microchipped with a Home Again microchip.  She is heartworm negative and her blood chemistries and CBC are all within the normal range.  She is reliably housebroken and will potty on a leash as well as in a yard.  She eats well twice a day with no fuss and sleeps through the night.  She loves men, women and children.  She is a dream dog!

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
