"Little Princess Leia is a cute bundle of adorable fluff masking a tough rugby player inside.  She takes on her two brothers and tackles wanted toys away from them.  She gets more scoldings from her foster sister (a Collie named Joy) than both of her brothers combined.  She calms right down and snuggles close to you when picked up unless she sees something more interesting than you, she'll wiggle like a hard to hold slippery worm to chase after her desires."

This is one of the tiny, malnourished and dehydrated Sheltie mix puppies that were found abandoned in a field in Golden, Colorado.  They were lucky enough to be brought to Foothills Animal Shelter and stabilized there for their stray period.  Foothills is one of our rescue partners and they requested we take over to give the pups time additional time to gain weight and strength before they would be placed for adoption.  We were pleased to help.

Leia is an 8-week-old female puppy with unknown parentage.  If you squint, you could see Sheltie or some other herding breed.  So, we will start there.  She will have all the necessary vaccinations and pre-anesthetic bloodwork before her spay, all of which will be paid for by Rocky Mountain Collie and Sheltie Rescue.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us.
