About Nicki

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Sable
  • Housetrained: Yes
Nicki is an absolute joy! She is a graceful 31 pound sable and white sheltie with the classic “collie” nose and a gentle love typical of dogs that come from a home that has demonstrated love. Her people had to move to a retirement home that did not allow pets, so she stayed for a short while with another family member. She is now in a foster home, where she is being fed a better diet and where she has been welcomed by several other shelties and a cat. Nicki is good on a leash as long as she isn’t being led to a car, although once she’s in the car, she’s fine! She has not been around small children, but she is great with a cat, other dogs, and with all people. She is appropriately cautious around strangers at first but warms up quickly. Since being moved from her original owners, she has forgotten a little about house training, but is on a regular routine now and is making great progress—she is smart and eager to please! An obedience class would help boost her confidence, as well. She is a healthy 3-year old spayed sweetie. She has tested negative for heartworm, is up to date on her shots and has had a dental cleaning. Please search your heart and see if you might be able to welcome this little beauty into your home. Then, go to the application page on our website and indicate your interest in adopting Nicki! Our webmaster is on vacation, so she cannot be listed on our site for a couple of weeks but Nicki is available. Begin the process for adoption by going to our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org, reading our policies and guidelines, and if we sound like the right group for you, proceed to the online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. A good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit will round out our screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
