Meet Miss Ellie, a sweet adolescent spayed female herding dog. She may have some smooth Collie in addition to Border Collie with just a dab of Sheltie. Running with the wind in her ears is just about her favorite thing and she can hardly wait to go outdoors to fly around the yard. Far from being an over-active pup in the house, she loves to play gently with other dogs so a forever home with a companionable playmate and a spacious fenced yard will be perfect for her. And she is smart which will aid her in learning new commands and household manners. She just needs to catch up on being the center of the universe!

After wandering in a farming community, Ellie was caught in a live animal trap. Not having experienced much kindness from previous people in her life, she is for the first time learning to trust humans... so for a while she will be a bit skittish. Despite her being a bit shy she is still a sweetheart with a joyous energy about her.  She has learned her new name very quickly and is recently housetrained so please excuse her if she occasionally needs to be reminded. Being a youngster, if bored, she may go looking for something to do. Be warned - slippers, socks and such are fair game in her mind. Ellie rarely barks and gets along very well with other dogs. She is 44# so probably too big for toddlers but she is perfect for dog loving kids of 10 or over. Ellie is heartworm negative, has received all necessary vaccines including a 1 yr. rabies vaccination. She has also been microchipped with a Home Again chip and her adoption will include a lifetime database registration.  As her trust in her foster parents has improved daily, she has become more affectionate and loving.  Her forever family must also be patient and understanding while Ellie learns what life in a loving family is all about.

Applications first please.  You will find the application for adoption on our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org.  Please read about our organization so that you understand how we match dogs to the perfect family.  This will be fun.  We can't wait to hear from you!
