Nothing is more fun than raising a smart and silly smooth Collie puppy.  Dale (of Chip and Dale) is athletic and snuggable, adores other dogs and has never met a stranger. Puppies need a lot of a ttention to become the adult dog you want them to be.  So if you work fulltime and have lots of other activities that take up your "free time", it may not be the right time to adopt a dog.

Dale greets everyone with a big smile on his face.  At four months old, he has housebroken himself with a doggie door and really gets the concept of going out to potty and then coming in and not pottying.  Pretty awesome!  All dogs, cats and humans are potential friends.  He plays in the backyard with toys he has dragged out of the house and anything else that catches his eye.  (I just found my dish towels from the kitchen beside a chew bone and a stuffed duck in the grass of the backyard.)  If you could see him fly around in the dog run and jump over another dog as if to say, "How cool was that?" 

Dale is up to date on his distemper/parvo vaccines and is just about old enough for his one year Rabies vaccine.  He is microchipped and learning to come when he is called and "kennel" for meals and bedtime.  He sleeps through the night, cozy with a favorite blanket in his wire kennel. He has not yet been neutered because research shows that neutering a dog too early decreases the density of their bones.  But he will definitely be neutered.  That is one of the mandates of dog rescue.

Without a completed application, no one will be considered for adoption.  You will find the application on our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org.  There are not enough hours in the day to get back to folks who have just "inquired" about a dog.  Thanks for understanding.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us.
