A COMPLETED APPLICATION (WHICH YOU WILL FIND ON OUR WEBSITE AT  www.colliesheltierescue.org) IS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY ADOPTION.  AN INQUIRY FROM ADOPT-A-PET OR PETFINDER IS NOT AN APPLICATION.

Tucker is a highly intelligent 3-year-old tri-colored Sheltie.  He is a 40# neutered male that is over-sized but not at all chubby.  He has been the constant companion to a kind gentleman that recently died and Tucker has continued to grieve for his "dad."  Tucker's "mom" believes that someone needs Tucker as much as Tucker will need them.

Tucker will need lots of love and patience while he bonds with his forever family.  He is a bit of a complicated fellow.  The traits that make him so special are the same traits that will take some time to him to change his allegiance.  He seems to be more of a man's dog but since Al's death, he has taken the very important job of watching over Ann very seriously.  If someone knocks on the front door, they will be greeted by a ferocious bark as if to say, "Back off!  Sheltie on duty here!"

Tuck is healthy and up-to-date on everything.  Heartworm negative and on Interceptor monthly for heartworm prevention.  Vaccines on board.  Eats well and potties appropriately.  Nicely trained and knows lots of English words.  Rides in the car with Ann in the other bucket seat.  We believe that Tucker would prefer to be the only dog in the family.  It is hard to tell if it is a lack of confidence or a protective nature that makes him uneasy approaching other dogs while on leash.  As we said, lots of love and patience is the key to making Tucker your next best friend.

Only folks with previous Sheltie experience will be considered.  And please don't ask about adopting a Sheltie without a fully fenced and escape proof back yard.  The answer will be NO.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
