A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE ANY CONVERSATION ABOUT ADOPTING FROM OUR ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE GO TO www.colliesheltierescue.org AND READ ABOUT THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS (GOOD PHONE INTERVIEW, SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN, HOME VISIT.)  I KNOW THAT IS A LOT BUT WE SCREEN CAREFULLY FOR THE SAKE OF THE DOGS.  THEY DESERVE IT!

Harper is the "sweetest dog ever", (so sayeth her foster mom).  She is just barely a year old and still has a great deal to learn but she loves instinctively, as every wonderful Collie does.  She is super affectionate and cuddly and is not fulfilled unless she has a cuddle-fest with mom before bedtime.  Just in case you can't tell, Harper Lee has been dearly loved by her foster mom.  But keeping up with a Collie puppy's energy is a full-time job.

Harper is a one-year-old spayed female tri-colored rough Collie.  First of all, Harper needs a young and energetic companion dog to run with, play tug with and learn from.  With a dog that has not had lots of "hands on" as a youngster, the greatest and quickest impact on their learning curve will be from a well-mannered  "big sister or big brother" to show them what I call "the ways of the force."  Remember what Luke Skywalker and Han Solo learned from each other?  Harper's foster parents have paid for 2 weeks of a board and train program with a certified trainer.  Her progress is excellent in the basic commands of sit, stay, down, off, leave it and walking on leash like a lady.  What a wonderful gift for this dog!

Harper's crate is her safe place.  When unsure of herself, she will retreat to her crate.  Again, as she gains more confidence, this behavior will lessen and she will begin to believe in herself and her human.  And, as always, love travels down the leash.

Young dogs belong with young families.  Harper's puppy energy would be too much for toddlers and, like Tigger in Winnie the Pooh, she would bounce a kiddo over.  Kids over 10 or teenagers would be lots of fun for Harper and Harper would be great fun for them.  Her health is excellent and she is completely up to date on vaccines, etc.  All we need to add is love!
